Version 2.0.0 of the Candidate Campaign Survey (GLES 2017) (ZA6814) is available. The updated dataset contains the following changes to the previous version:

• The erroneous post-stratification weight for mandate holders wei_mdb has been corrected.
• Codings of open answers on the most important problem (c1as, c1bs, c1cs), local campaign topics (b10s) and job titles (e12s) have been added.
• The values of the variable gewählt have been abdjusted.
• Letter suffixes for variables b7, b11, b20, e1 and e12 have been assigned according to their sequence in the questionnaire. In version 1.0.0, the suffixes had yet been assigned analogous to the equivalent variables in the candidate study 2013.
• The labels of the variables b11i (b11d in version 1.0.0), e11as and e11bs have been corrected/specified.

Due to the high sensitivity of the data a direct download is not possible. To gain access to the data you have to sign a contract of use with GESIS. Please consider this document for further information on the procedure.

Version 4.0.0 of the Pre-election Cross ection of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) 2017 (ZA6800) is available. The updated dataset contains the following changes to the previous version:

• Codings of the open answers to the variables “Most important problem” and “Second most important problem” (q22_c1 – q22_c5, q23_c1 – q23_c5) have been added to the data set.
• The open answers to the variables “Most important problem” and “Second most important problem” (q22s, q23s) have been deleted.
• The serial number has been corrected.
• The weighting variables have been updated, now using the marginal distributions of the German micro census 2016 (previously micro census 2013).
• The variable Virtual Sample Points (vpoint) has been added to the dataset.
• The variable bik10 has been removed due to data protection.

Version 3.0.1 of the Rolling Cross-Section Campaign Survey with Post-Election Panel Wave (ZA6803) of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) 2017 is available. The updated dataset contains the following changes to the previous version: Missing value labels were added for variables pre073, pre074, pos013a, pos013b, and pos056a and a typo in the labels of variables pre018a-pre018g has been fixed.

Version 5.0.0 of the Short-term Campaign Panel (ZA6804) is available.The updated dataset contains the following changes to the previous version:

• The ninth wave has been added to the dataset.
• The constituency coding has been updated and accounts for the boundaries 2017 (elecdist, elecdist1-elecdist4).
• Post-stratification weights have been recalculated based on the marginal distributions from the German micro census 2016.
• The variable kpx_info has been updated and gives information on inconsistencies in the reported residence of respondents. This includes not matching federal states and constituencies as well as changes of the federal state between wave 1/a1 and wave 9.
• The variable lfdn has been inconsistent. All cases, which were already included in the first wave, were assigned a new consecutive number in each released version of the dataset. This fault has been removed and the consecutive number corresponds to the latest dataset version (v4.0.0).
• The variable kp8_211 has been recoded because the values were incorrectly replaced by the values of the variable kp8_221 in earlier versions. The error has been corrected.
• Correction of variable and value labels.

Version 3.0.0 of the Rolling Cross-Section Campaign Survey with Post-Election Panel Wave (ZA6803) of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) 2017 is available. The updated dataset contains the following changes to the previous version: The constituency coding has been added to the data set (elecdist, elecdist1-elecdist4, elecdist_flag).The most important problem (MIP) and second MIP coding has been added for the pre- and post-election survey (pre013c1-pre013c5, pre015c1-pre015c5, pos015c1-pos015c5, pos017c1-pos017c5). Post-stratification weights have been recalculated based on the marginal distributions from the German micro census 2016. False variable labels in pre005 and pre007 have been fixed (the labels referred to first vote instead of second vote). The tagnr variable has been converted from a string variable to a numeric variable.
